Estimated cost of repairs: to be announced

The Guild of the Holy Cross, a mediaeval trade guild with religious and charitable aims, was formed in 1269, and between 1280 and 1330 gave the money to build the tower and rebuild the nave with side-aisles.

The tracery of the third window from the east on the north aisle is decaying and is in need of repair.
The provision of window guards is inconsistent. The existing guards have been formed from galvanised mild steel which has rusted, rendering them ineffective as well as staining the stone work.
The stonework to several windowsills is spalding as a result of rusting metal window bars.
The tracery of the 12 clerestory windows on the north side is in very poor condition indeed.
